Description

Built in 1906, the Post Office on the corner of The Square and Main Street was Palmerston North’s fourth. Due to the risks in an earthquake, the clock tower was removed in 1942. They were re-purposed for the Hopwood Clock Tower. In 1988, when Telecom and Postbank became separate entities, the building ceased to be the Post Office. It currently operates as a restaurant and bar.

This postcard reads, "Miss Myra Neal, C/o Post Office Motueka Dear Myra, I arrived in Nelson today. Thursday am going to work tomorrow. I got you a hat but not with roses, it has navy blue silk folds [?] and a wing one with roses[,] came to 28/-. The one I got was 12/6. It is very neat. I hope it will suit you. Love to Herb and yourself. From Eva."
