This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 9 August 1958, page 9: "When a fault developed in the transformer on the intersection of Te Awe Awe Street and Victoria Avenue early last evening the area was plunged into darkness for the second time in three days. City Council employees worked throughout the night and today to convert the line from 3300 volts to 11,000 volts. Mr. F. Eastham is seen engaged on the work yesterday."
