Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 23 November, 1959. “The Palmerston North City Council offices on Saturday night were a hive of activity when the final figures from all the polling booths throughout the city came to hand. As a compiling centre for all results, six telephonists were on hand all the time in direct communication with the numerous booths. From left to right they are Messrs C. Waugh, W. Potbury, T. Kendrick, L. Hardie, R. Thessman and S. Cadogan.” Other photos associated with this article were published November, 1959.
