At this time the drapery department of C M Ross was situated in the single storey building in George Street. The C M Ross store began in The Square in 1883, and grew into one of the foremost department stores in Palmerston North.The man standing in the far right of the photograph is Stanley Duncan Alcock, who work in the drapery depatment.
