An excerpt from the article read: “A series of community activities is to take place in Palmerston North over the next three months. The scheme is called the ‘Community Buzz Programme’ and will concentrate on two main periods of family fun and activities, during the last two weeks of both January and February. The aims of the programme are to develop an awareness of existing recreational resources in the city and to encourage better usage of leisure hours. Some proposed activities which focus on the Square, but also extend to suburban areas, are music, crafts, drama, involvement of ethnic groups, outdoor movies, discos, sports, and family games.”
