21st Jamboree of the Air

Description

These images were taken for the November 26th, 1978 edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper, the first of which was published with the caption: “Scouts and Guides from the Palmerston North area took part in the 21st Jamboree of the air - along with Scouts and Guides from all over the world. Seen taking part in the world-wide radio link is Barry Bailey, watched by other Rover Scouts Kim Summersby, Pat Mangan, and Clair Ryan. At the rear is the radio "ham" who loaned them the use of the gear. Peter Berdebes, of Palmerston North. They spoke to other Scouts in Australia, Luxembourg, Japan, the United States, Canada, Colombia, and Britain from Mr Berdebes' house. Other Scouts, at Camp Kilsby, spoke to Scouts in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina as well.”
