It is being constructed by National Servicemen from the School of Military Engineering, Linton, who are covering as many phases of their basic engineering training as possible, while at the same time are assisting the Agricultural Department's Soil Conservation service in a project to develop a central nursery on the site. Engineering equipment being used includes air compression and gas cutting tools, a heavy equipment to cope with the 1750 lbs rolled steel girders. The chute in the foreground of the photograph directs boulders for the foundation into the waiting barrow from the trucks on the bank above. Planking is being cut for the carriageway of the bridge in the background. The non-tactical operation is commanded by K.K Malloch W.O.1, Regimental Sergeant Major at the engineering school, Linton.
