All Saints Church and Grand Hotel

All Saints Church and Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel stands opposite the All Saints Church on the corner of Church Street and The Square. The Grand is no longer an hotel but is used as an office block, and the All Saints Church is currently closed as an earthquake prone building (2019). This photograph looking across the lakelet in The Square was a popular scene for photographers. Of note is the tower on the Grand Hotel which was removed in 1963.
