The Palmerston North Golf Club was formed in 1930 and was originally sited in West End, off the corner of Botanical and Park Roads where this club house was built. In the the early 1960s the City Council acquired the land for housing and the Club relocated to No 100 Brightwater Terrace, Terrace End.

Victoria University established an extramural branch in Palmerston North, prior to the demise of the University of New Zealand in 1961 and the establishment of Massey University in 1964. It was based at the former Transit Camp site, on Centennial Drive (which later became the Palmerston North Teachers' College).

The Municipal Opera House of Palmerston North, designed by F J Wilson and built by J Trevor and Sons, was erected in 1904-1905 and opened 12 July 1905. In 1952 it was condemned as unsafe by the Palmerston North City Council and was strengthened and remodelled both inside and out in 1955. It was sold by the PNCC to a businessman in 1996 and demolished.

After it was sold to to Jack Strang in 1903 the house was extensively enlarged, both by him and by the New Zealand Government during the time it was leased to them for use as Government House (1908-1910). In 1921 the house was sold to William Caccia Birch. It is now known as Caccia Birch House in his honour. The Palmerston North City Council depot still operates from this site on the corner of Ferguson Street and Albert Street.

This plan is undated and is presumed to have not been realised.

There was a tea kiosk in the Victoria Esplanade from 1909 to 1943. It was not replaced until the original post office building was moved from Main Street to the gardens in 1989, to serve as a tearooms.
