A picture of an unidentified couple from c 1880s-1890s. The negative had 'Oliver' etched into the plate. George Shailer was a well-known photographer in Palmerston North, takin gmany studio and informal portraits in the Manawatu region.

John Smith

John Smith married Susan Shailer (1867-1925), the daughter of the photographer, in 1882. He was a member of the Forester's Lodge. John died at 95 years of age.

Ada Shailer, Daughter of G. W. Shailer

Ada Shailer (1871-1935) married Mr D. Collis, a farmer from Kairanga. Her father George Shailer was a well known photographer in Palmerston North, taking many studio and informal photographs in the Manawatu District.

Lydia Nicolina Dahlstrom, daughter of Anders Christian Christensen (baker of Stoney Creek) and Marie Christensen. Her mother died when she was five in 1885 and Lydia was adopted by Ola Persson Dahlstrom and his wife in 1887.

Mrs Mary Elizabeth (Minnie) Leary was the wife of Mr Joseph Leary, a pioneer printer of Palmerston North. She was previously Mrs Carty of Wellington. She had five children by her first marriage, none by her marriage to Joseph.
