This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 15 May 1989 with the caption : "Sole Brothers' Circus' Minyak rallies for the cause outside the Regent Theatre on Saturday." Minyak wore banners with slogans aimed at convincing passers-by to sign a petition to save the Regent Theatre from demolition. 1500 people signed the petition during the stunt.

The City Library, situated on The Square, was originally built as the C M Ross department store in 1928. It was bought by the City Council and converted into the new Library, opening 1996.
