The Uniforms and Badges Emergency Regulations 1941.—
Uniforms, Badges, and Insignia of the Women’s War Service
Auxiliary.

National Service Department,
Wellington, 20th December, 1941.
NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to the Uniforms
and Badges Emergency Regulations 1941, authority
has been given by the Minister of National Service for the
use by officials and members of the Women’s War Service
Auxiliary of the uniforms, badges, and insignia described in
the Schedule hereto.
The uniforms, badges, and insignia may be used and worm
Only by duly enrolled members of the Women’s War Service
Auxiliary on the terms and conditions from time to time
authorized by the Minister of National Service.

SCHEDULE.
UNIFORM TO BE WORN BY SUCH OFFICIALS AS ARE APPROVED
BY THE MINISTER OF NATIONAL SERVICE.
Khaki cotton drill costume uniform with four military
pockets in coat; self-coloured belt; uniform to be worn
with khaki shirt and tie; skirt pleated side back and
side front; the uniform being indicated in the diagram
below. Cap: Soft-crowned cap with visor:—

UNIFORM FOR OTHER MEMBERS.
Khaki cotton drill coat frock with three military pockets,
two on skirt and one on left breast; self-coloured belt, buttons
affixed on front; tie to be worn in colour according to
training section to which member belongs; the uniform being
indicated in the diagram below. Cap: Soft-crowning cap
with visor:—

BADGES.
Badges to be worn by such officials as are approved by
the Minister of National Service:—

ARM BANDS.
The arm band to be worn by members of the Women’s
War Service Auxiliary on approved occasions when members
are not in uniform shall bear a crown and the letters
“W.W.S.A” in red on white cloth.

EMBLEMS FOR TRAINING GROUPS.
The following shall be worn on each shoulder by members
of the appropriate groups as set out hereunder:—
Transport Group.—The emblem shall be the word
“Transport” in white letters on a blue ground.
Cycle Corps.—The emblem shall be the word “Cycle” in
white letters on light navy blue ground.
Signalling Group.—The emblem shall be crossed flags, one
white and one blue, as indicated by the following diagram,
on white ground: —

Canteen Group.—The emblem shall be the word “Canteen”
in white letters on red ground.
Land Workers’ Group.—The emblem shall be the word
“Land” in white letters on green ground.
Clerical Group.—The emblem shall be the word “Clerical”
in white letters on dark blue ground.
Nursing Group.—The emblem shall be the St. John Badge
to be worn on the left upper sleeve.

INSIGNIA FOR OFFICE-BEARERS.
Division Leaders.—To wear “Official” badge.
Company Leader.—Star to be worn on each upper sleeve
and lanyard in approved colour.
Platoon Leader.—Three chevrons inverted, to be worn on
each forearm in approved colour.
First Marker.—Two chevrons inverted, to be worn on each
forearm in approved colour.
Second Marker.—One chevron inverted, to be worn on each
forearm in approved colour.
