The staff of the water works are shown taking a break from connecting the water main to the new bridge. Left to right: Tom Sexton, Jon McLaughlin, Roy Kersel, Malcolm Groom (an employee of Taylor and Andrew's Engineering), Harry Mills, Ray Leslie, Dave Tombleson, Sam Stevens, George Nichols (Council painter and was Field Marshall Tiny Freyberg's tank driver in WWII), and Andy Kelt (26 years service with the PNCC at time of photograph).
