Description

This Japanese Kowhai Tree was planted on 28 May 1966 to commemorate the founding of a Palmerston North Branch of Amnesty International. It was a gift from Section 23 of Amnesty International and the Palmerston North City Council. This tree is one of Palmerston North's most notable exotic trees. It is one of the trees listed in the district scheme register of historic or notable trees. Behind it is the Colonial Mutual Life Building. Published in the Manawatu Standard 3 March 1980.
