William Park (1856-1938) was Mayor of Palmerston North 1893-1895, and a Borough Councillor a number of times between 1884 and 1901. He was a bookseller, stationer, newsagent and importer of fancy goods, toys and musical instruments, by trade, based in The Square. He was a serious canoe enthusiast and crossed Cook Strait in a Rob Roy canoe with his brother George.
