Description

Rock blast, set off by Dittmer Bros when constructing Scotts Road from the top of Kahuterawa Road to the top of Scotts Road. A Government grant enabled the road to be improved, and it was hoped to join Kahuterawa and Scotts Road. When the original contractor gave up it was taken over by Henry Dittmer and his sons, who farmed on Scotts Road, also known as Hill Top Road and Motu Rimu
