Description

Here the Dittmer brothers are loading rock which was being taken to be spread on Scotts Road, to improve the qualiity of the road. Henry Dittmer farmed cattle and sheep at Kahuterawa c1904-1920, with his four sons, Herman, John, Henry and William. A Government grant enabled the road to be improved, and it was hoped to join Kahuterawa and Scotts Road. When the original contractor gave up it was taken over by henry Dittmer and his sons.
