- Description
This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 11 December 1958: "After a slight accident, that resulted in a short spell in hospital, Anne MacKillop decided she would like to help in some way the crippled children. So with her two playmates, Jennifer Tucker and Dorothy Anderson, they formed, with the help of their parents, a Sunshine Club. The three girls set about the Hokowhitu area doing odd jobs for people in return for a small donation. In the photograph Mr. J.E. Greenslade counts the money from the two girls present, Jennifer on the left and Anne on the right. A total of £6 11s 10 1/2d was received with more to come from Dorothy. This money will go to the Christmas cheer fund of the Crippled Children Society."
