- Description
This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 9th March, 1963. "Mr and Mrs J. W. Livingstone, of Stonehaven Cresent, Palmerston North, who are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this weekend. Mrs Livingstone, formerly Miss O. E. J. Johns, of Bodangora, New South Wales, met her husband, a New Zealander, while he was working in the gold mines. The couple were married at the Methodist Church at Bodangora on March 10, 1913. The couple came to New Zealand that year and Mr Livingston set up in the butchery trade in Shannon, and later began farming at Shannon and Tokomaru. Later years brought them to Palmerston North where Mr Livingstone was employed by the Palmerston North City Coucil until his retirement four years ago. The couple have five daughters and one son, 26 grandchildren and one great-grandson, all living in the Manawatu district. This afternoon there was a quiet family function at which the special cake held pride of place."
