WOMENS WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY.
Address of Conveners ____________
Date ____________
Dear Madam,
The Central Executive of the Womens War Service
Auxiliary desire to notify your Organisation of the meeting
of delegates from womens organisations established in the
district which is to be held in the
on
The purpose of this meeting is to elect members to
serve on the local district committee of the Auxiliary.
The Executive is wishful that the election shall
be as free as possible, and has, therefore, laid down only a
few very simple rules for its regulation. These may be
stated briefly as follows:
-
Any organised body of women will be entitled to
send delegates. -
Generally speaking only parent organisations may
be represented. This means that if an organisation
has within it a number of internal clubs or circles
or other such bodies, it is contemplated that the
parent organisation will represent all bodies with it.
Local branches of national organisations are deemed to
be parent bodies for the purposes of this paragraph. -
Organisations having a membership of 50 or less in
the district will be entitled to send one delegate.
Organisations having a membership of over 50 will
be entitled to send two delegates. -
Delegates are to be accredited on the form enclosed
or by official letter addressed to the Convener(s) and
signed by the Secretary or other officer of the
organisation appointing them. Appointment of delegates
should be posted or delivered so as to reach Convener(s)
at
not later than
- 2 -
-
Nominations will be receivable from each organisation
represented. Nominations should be in writing, signed
by the delegate sending the same and consent to the
nomination by the candidate should be endorsed on it.
Nominations should be posted or delivered so as to
reach the Convener(s) not later than
A form of nomination is enclosed. -
Voting will be by delegates, i.e. each delegate will
count as one vote for each of the 9 persons for whom
the vote is cast. The necessary ballot papers will
be distributed to delegates at the meeting.
If there is any matter regarding the meeting which is
not clear to any organisation, an enquiry regarding the same
will be welcomed by telephone, personal call or letter to the
Convener(s).
The Executive very earnestly desires that the
members elected shall be as representative as possible of the
women of the district, and it cordially invites your organis-
ation to be represented at the meeting and to submit a nomin-
ation for the Committee.
It is scarcely necessary to emphasise the urgent
necessity for organising every resource of the nation in order
that we may win through the present crisis and the Executive
would greatly appreciate the co-operation of your organisation
in order that the women of the Dominion may play their full
part in helping to win the War.
Yours sincerely,
M Malempré
DOMINION SECRETARY.
