This image was published in the May 14th, 1978, edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper with the caption “The Palmerston North Brass Band (pictured) is competing at the national brass band competitions in Dunedin this weekend. About 30 members of the band, accompanied by another 20 supporters, flew to Dunedin on Thursday from the Palmerston North airport. The band is competing in the 'B' grade of the competitions, which are an annual event. The band will be returning to Palmerston North tomorrow. (Above) the band prepares for takeoff - in the foreground are Brian Cardiff (left) and Chester Clarke.”
