This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 11 September 1958: "One of the first 10 letters to cross the Tasman Sea by-air. It was carried in the Southern Cross from Sydney to Christchurch by Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith 30 years ago today."
