These bales of wool are being transported from A W Akers' "Broadlands" Estate to the Ashhurst Railway Station. The wagon was owned by the Akers' Estate and was driven by the late Mr Clarrie Ralph. W G S Romley was manager of the estate at this time. The team of horses had to ford the Pohangina River in order to arrive at Ashhurst.
