Gordon Brown (1907-1982) was the Manager of the Manawatu Consumer's Co-operative Society, which he helped to found in 1935. He also served on the Palmerston North City Council from 1968-1977 and was an international rugby figure. Gordon was awarded the OBE in 1975 for services to the community and sport.
