The Savage Crescent Walk

Savage Crescent in Palmerston North is a notable early example of New Zealand's state housing programme. It was built from 1938 - 1945, the first state housing in a provincial centre. The Savage Crescent walk booklet includes a short history of state housing and the Savage Crescent area, and discusses the concept behind the design and architecture of the area This booklet was compiled by Margaret Tate with the support and assistance of the Manawatu Branch Committee of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
