The people in this photograph have been identified as, from left: Tom; Mrs Susan Hart; Mrs Louise Hart and child. Richard (c.1837- 1903) and Susan Hart (c.1838-1909) migrated from England to New Zealand with their children on the sailing ship Rakaia in c.1879. The family took up farming activities in Ashhurst. The couple had six sons, Albert, John, William, Robert, George and Tom. In 1897 Albert Hart (c.1865-1940) married Louise Vautier (1872-1945) of Foxton and the couple had eight children. Thomas Hart died on 30 November 1918 during the Influenza epidemic, aged 44 years. This house was located on Harrisons Line.
