Description

A & L Seifert established Miranui Flaxmill in 1907. This locomotive was used for hauling trucks of flax from the Makerua Swamp to the Miranui Flaxmill. Miranui was the only mill in New Zealand to use a locomotive for hauling flax, but the engine proved too heavy for the swampy conditions and was replaced by horse and teams.
