Fourth Public Library, corner of The Square and Fitzherbert Avenue

Description

The Palmerston North Public Library was in this building 1929 -1965. This Library was purpose built by the City Council on the site of the Occidental Hotel, destroyed by fire. The Library was originally housed upstairs and offices and shops occupied the ground floor, but in later years it expanded into some areas downstairs. The building has since been demolished.
