Anders and Annie Petersen were migrants from Denmark. They first lived in Pahiatua, before settling in Aokautere on a 37 acre farm where they kept 15 cows. The couple had five sons and three daughters. This image is derived from a copy negative, which has partially cropped the original photograph. The family are, from left: Jens, Thorval, Annie, Chris, Dagmar (front), Mary, Johanus (front) and Anders. The eldest daughter Kate has been cropped from the right side of the image, with only her elbow visible.
