This equipment was owned by the Matthews Brothers of Mount Stewart and the photograph was taken in that vicinity. Behind the traction engine is the threshing mill, then comes the chaff-cutter and the cookhouse brings up the rear. This equipment was owned by the three Matthews Brothers – John, Henry and Albert and worked on many farms in the Mount Stewart - Feilding area. Miss Ada Matthews, Feilding, states the photo shows “Springfield Hill” opposite Kawakawa Road. The engine and mill are going out to the Awahuri – Feilding Road.
