Marie Haslem and Edna Coley, waitresses for Royal Civic dinner
- Description
A dinner was held in the C M Ross tearooms for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, on the occasion of their visit to Palmerston North 6-7 January 1954. The waitresses for the dinner were dressed in white uniforms. From left: Marie Haslem (later Hubbard), 18 years; Edna Coley, 16 years. The photograph was taken at the home of one of them, prior to the occasion. C M Ross Co. Ltd was one of the foremost department stores of Palmerston North and operated in The Square from 1883 until it was sold to Milne and Choyce in 1959.
