Waitresses for the Royal Civic Dinner for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip
- Description
A dinner was held in the C M Ross tearooms for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, on the occasion of their visit to Palmerston North 6-7 January 1954. The waitresses were dressed in white uniforms, and some are pictured on the roof of the C M Ross building. From left: Mrs Ethel Harris, 21 years; Edna Coley, 16 years; Marie Haslem (later Hubbard), 18 years; Faye Hall (later Hobb), 16 years. C M Ross Co. Ltd was one of the foremost department stores of Palmerston North and operated in The Square from 1883 until it was sold to Milne and Choyce in 1959.
