This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 6th January 1966 "The Mayor (Mr. G.M. Rennie) is seen here receiving a cheque on behalf of the Manawatu Surf and Lifesaving Club from the proprietor of the Longburn Motor Garage (Mr. E. Pinker). In the picture, from left to right, are Mr. E. Williams, secretary of the club, Mr. Rennie, Mrs. Pinker and Mr. Pinker. Mr. Pinker is a keen supporter of the Lifesaving Club, and he recently turned a whole day's profits over to the club."
