Building plan for a two-storey block of flats with communal facilities. Post WWII there was a shortage of housing in New Zealand, and this building was part of the plan for temporary (transit) housing for people in need. A camp of transit housing was constructed in Hokowhitu, but It is unknown if this block was built in South Street.
