Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on December 24 1979 with the caption, "Tenants are now moving into seven newly completed Housing Corporation cluster houses near the Church Street-West Street corner. The Evening Standard Lifestyle section featured on of the first of the new cluster-style of state housing about two months ago. This received much favourable comment from readers and the Housing Corporation says tenants, too, are happy with this type of housing. The development (designed by architect Elwyn Evans) is typical of the new approach towards medium-density housing being taken by the Corporation in Palmerston North and throughout the Country. Each house forms a separate unit linked only to other houses by carports."
