Norman Edgar Hassell was born 6 September 1894 at Akatarawa, Upper Hutt and died 27 May 1964 in Palmerston North. He served in World War One and wrote his memories of his military service in Egypt, Gallipoli and the Western Front, in retrospect. This photograph was included in the manuscript.
