Journalist Tina White's weekly "Memory Lane" article in the Manawatū Standard. Lawrence McCallum's autobiography "Growing Up in Palmerston North, Paraburdoo and Beyond: A Memoir" includes stories about 1950s and 1960s Palmerston North. The three institutions that significantly influenced his life were Russell Street School, Massey University and the Longburn freezing works.
