Johnathan and Caroline Lucas

Johnathan (b. 1859 d. 17 October 1939) and Caroline Lucas(b. 1862 d. 7 April 1934) were originally from England and Wales. They came to Palmerston North from Adelaide, South Australia, marrying about August 1884. Johnathan worked in Palmerston North with his Uncle John Lucas. Later he worked on the Manawatu-Longburn railway, during its initial construction. He also worked on the building of the Great Northern Railway from Adelaide South. Jonathan farmed at Oroua Bridge (now Rangiotu) from about 1893, until his retirement to Palmerston North. They are both buried at the Kelvin Grove Cemetery in Palmerston North.
