George Conrad Petersen is at the far left of the photograph. He was born in the Danish community at Mauriceville in 1900. Petersen moved to Palmerston North where he lived for the rest of his life working as a lawyer. He alos became the Danish Consul at one time and a noted local historian, for which he was honoured with a Doctorate by Massey University in 1964. He died in 1978, and his archives are now held by the Palmerston North City Library
