Description: These images were taken for the October 8th, 1978 edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper, the first of which was published with the caption: “Lorraín McMillan prepares the Takapuna club's colourful tribute to the city club.”

The short article read: “Auckland floral art enthusiasts travelled to Palmerston North last week to help the Palmerston North Horticultural and Floral Art Club celebrate its 25th jubilee. A week of special activities was laid on for them, and the Palmerston North club members, the city's club president, Mrs Pat Sinnott, told the "Tribune".

The Palmerston North club has had close ties with the Takapuna Floral Art Club ever since one of its members, Mrs Thelma Wood, joined the Auckland club. Mrs Wood a past president of the Palmerston North club, accompanied the Takapuna women when they visited the city last week. And last October 13 of the Palmerston North club's members were the guests of the Takapuna club, for a week. "They had a wonderful time there," Mrs Sinnott said. Last week's visit was a way for the Palmerston North club to return the compliment.

The 11 Takapuna members arrived from Auckland last Monday, and a workshop was held for them at St Paul's church hall in Broadway that night. The workshop was conducted by Mrs Sinnott and Takapuna club member, Lorraine McMillan. A luncheon was held for the guests on Tuesday, and a demonstration of floral art techniques and entertainment provided by the Takapuna women.

On Wednesday a bus trip was arranged for the visitors, with a visit to Levin's orchid gardens as well as a visit to an art display and a luncheon on the agenda. On Wednesday night an evening reception was held in the home of Palmerston North club member Mrs Neilsen. Thursday was an informal day, reserved for shopping and a visit to Massey University before the Takapuna club members headed back home.”
