Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 23 April 1963 "Modern automation came into being at the Sanson telephone exchange at 1 p.m. yesterday as Miss Glenys Murray disconnected the last cord from the old switchboard, and a technician turned a master switch. Seconds later the wires hummed and equipment chattered as Sanson's 190 subscribers experimented with the "new-fangled" invention."
