This image was not published in the Manawatu Evening Standard, taken on 8 July, 1963. "Linton telephone subscribers, 160 in all some with as many as ten on a party line will now have no difficulties. The fully automatic telephone exchange was officially switched over at 10 p.m. yesterday. Seen testing the line is Mr I. Duncan, a senior technician of the Post and Telegraph Department." Another image was published on 8 July, 1963.
