This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 2nd April 1963. "At a cost of a few blisters and aching leg muscles, these three students from the Massey University College of the Manawatu, Messrs N. James (left), A. McLean, and J. Carrad, and D. Mirams, who could not be found, and who was thought to have locked himself in his bathroom for a hot bath, arrived in the city yesterday after breaking the bed pushing record over a distance of 50 miles, from Wanganui to Palmerston North, via Fielding. They completed the journey in 14 hours 17 minutes, breaking the record by over four hours."
