Description

Local historians weekly "Back Issues" article in the Manawatū Standard. History of the Renaissance Singers. The late Bryan Ibell founded the choir when he wanted to sing cappella fifty years ago. Other chorists in the city wanted to sing songs that had voice parts. The madrigal style of music, a complex choral style of music popular during the Renaissance, was at the forefront in the minds of the choir's founders, and inspired the choir's name. The choir has attracted talented musicians over the years, singing many styles of music to a professional performance level.
