Margaret Malcolm made history when she secured the top job at Wellington Teacher's College when she was Vice-Principal of the Palmerston North Teacher's College. She was one of the first women to head a New Zealand Teacher's College. At the time 77% of the students at the college were women. She died three years after her appointment.
