"Looking across the centre of The Square to the General Post Office. The original Post Office was moved back for the ‘new’ Post Office, built in 1905. The old Post Office was later turned to face onto Main Street. C Smith Draper and other businesses can be seen leading to the corner of Broad Street.
Photographer Frederick Radcliffe. Postcard no.134.
The reverse reads:
From Palmerston North
Dear Bert
I’ve left my umbrella behind you might give it to Muriel for me if you don’t mind, I believe it is hanging on the peg in the passage. Lovely weather up here now. This afternoon I went for a walk and the dog caught a rabbit. Am going out catching whitebait probably some day next week. That is if it keeps fine
Au revoir R"
