Description

Ludolph George West (1846-1919) (standing in foreground next to seated woman on left) was an architect. Born in Denmark, he arrived in New Zealand 1868 and was one of the early settlers of Palmerston North. He married twice - a Miss Bannister 1878 and, when widowed, Miss Greenwood 1894. He was very active in the community and among other things served as Borough Councillor 1884-1886, 1887-1889 and Mayor 1886-1887. His son, E V West was also an architect and continued on in the business.
