The Square and the Coronation Fountain are in the foreground, with the newly built CML building which housed the Inland Revenue Department, next to the MLC building, and the BNZ Bank at the top of Rangitikei Street. The Commercial Union building can be seen on the corner of Rangitikei and King Streets, and the Phoenix Life building on the corner of Rangitikei and Grey Streets. In the distance, the New Zealand Brewery's tower can be see. (Probably taken from the new Palmerston North Civic Administration Building)
