Panorama of a rugby game in play between Te Aute College and Wanganui High School. Shows spectators, grandstands and field. A number of tents have been erected on the Cuba Street side beyond the field. The showgrounds were opened for the first A & P Association Show in 1886 on the site of the first cemetery plot in Palmerston North, and still stand bound by Cuba, Pascal, Waldegrave and Featherston Streets. They were used for rugby/football from 1891.
