The celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Palmerston North, a programme of events was held from 15 to 22 March 1952. This included a parade around The Square of "Cavalcade of Transport Through the Ages," on the afternoon on Wednesday 19 March. This double exposure photograph is thought to depict scenes from this event.
